It's a hat badge. Is this it?

Caption on the pic says 1917. Very cool. Never seen one like that before.

Here's another pic. Looks like yours is pre-1922.

If you want boyscout coins and "relics" I have a place for you! :tongue3: It's an old area that had an old site, but it sure is painful trying to find some old iron.

Scully I believe also made a lot of military buttons.

Maybe it will be worth a few bucks. How easy would it be to sell that for a grand! ;D

LOL...I didn't even see the maker's mark on the back...Scully is most known as a button manfacturer, as IP said. Neato!

William Scully, as manufacturing wholesalers, has supplied the Canadian Government and Units for over 130 years. William Scully Ltd. supplied equipment for troops going to the Boer War, and, to date, they have made and supplied a wider range of uniform dress items than any firm in the Commonwealth.
And yes, William Scullly Ltd. was the first manufacturer of crested military buttons in Canada.
Here's their website: http://www.williamscully.ca/

The fleur-di-lis is used in the insignia for the World Scout Organization. It differs from the BSA logo, which has the Eagle super-imposed (as the pics of the hat badge depict).

Hi -- I'm new here, but I joined because of this particular thread and because of the item I recently purchased at an estate sale. To be honest, when doing research, I couldn't find very much information...The person who had this must've have kept it stored properly for many years. The hat has a tag in it saying it was made in Glasgow, Scotland, 100% wool and the store name is "MONTEITHS" --- The hat/cap is flawless. The badge is of the design that follows this discussion... cannot find much else on it. It was definitely forged at Scully's in Montreal.... have more photos if anyone is interested...
