Anyone ever found this style ring. What are the chances of it being real emerald stone? Its very shinning and preserved for being in ground for aleast 80years old.

The second ring design reminds me of a European 15th or 16th Century Pilgrim badge. They were usually bronze badges that were sown or pinned onto clothing but I suppose people could have sold rings too. Pilgrims used to walk 'the pilgrims road' though England, France and Spain, visiting various shrines, cathedrals and churches on the way and there was a regular cottage industry all alng the route. It's difficult to date your ring from the photos so it could be a later copy. It's still a great find.

Welcome to Tnet I think the likelihood of it being an emerald is slim as it's not something that would have been put in a copper setting? I'd say it's glass? the other ring looks to be religious in nature? HH

Real emerald stones have air bubbles, inclusions, and faults, which were made when the emerald was being formed. These inclusions make emeralds look somewhat foggy on the inside. Clean the stone really, both front (and back if it is open), then examine it under a clear light. Don't use harsh detergents. If the stone looks clear, then it's not the real deal. Don't confuse surface scratches with internal faults. Since the stone is so large, I would say it's not a real emerald, but you need to check the clarity or I should say, the lack of clarity. Also, as BK said, if it were a real emerald, more than likely it would not be set in copper. Your 2nd ring is a Catholic ring as BCH said. Neat finds :) Breezie
