Vintage lighter but how old?

I found this lighter today.
Can I get help in finding out how old this is and who made it?
I think I see some script on it but very faint.

I'm not going to try and date it, but I would say older than WW2....

After a soaking and soft scrubbing,
I can make out an NG.
