Virgin Mary Metal Case

gfrd23 · Jan 23, 2005

Hi everybody! I found this object inside an antique cabinet in an ancestral house we bought in Philippines way back in 1978 and kept this for quite long. Our place is famous for antique religious items brought from Spain to Philippines during the Spanish colonization.
Anybody can help me what this is?

Thanks

Definatly a rosary bead case. Circa 1830?

are those intials on the cross? Some research may be able to identify it with someone who owned the house in the past.

Does it open? If it does, how do you open it?

"I H S" is on many religious objects.

Not sure about the validity of the people who created this site but they mention IHS as being the first 3 letters of Jesus in the Greek language? ?http://www.cyberfaith.com/nurturing/nurturing14.html? ?8)
