We have been waiting on the Winter Barley to be harvested with bated breath. Firstly we were glad we were not detecting yesterday which was the hottest day EVER in the UK. Today we detected in thunder storms instead, having to bolt to the car twice during the worst of it. I welcome the rain & getting wet in warm weather is not an issue as the softer ground was a blessing.
What wasn't so great was he never got the straw in, so every 5th run on our gridding was unsearchable & in places the stubble was 10 inches tall! We also had to tackle the wind flatten crop areas as well, so we must have missed lots.
However, this first grid before the later cultivation will give us a good idea of the size of the scatter, which is very spread out but not as dense as we hoped. 6 Hours;

UPDATE on Coin:

Well the British Museum hasn't seen this combination of reverse type on Ant Pius! (first 'known' example)

''Your new find is interesting! You are in the right place in terms of an ID, this is Antoninus Pius, probably a sestertius although a little on the light side. But, I think the reason it’s difficult to track down is that it’s likely to be a hybrid issue or potentially a slightly irregular copy. The bust looks slightly wrong, although the legends would work for one of Pius’ longer types (ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P…IIII or similar). I think you’re correct for the reverse too, it looks like A[ETER]NITAS, S C, which doesn’t appear for Pius but does appear for Diva Faustina I. It looks likely that this is a hybrid combining obverse of Pius and reverse of Faustina I. I can’t find an exact published parallel, but this is perhaps not surprising given it is combining two types – we do have a few in the BM collection that are contemporary copies or hybrid types of this period though, Sam has been adding to them wherever possible when they appear, but not one exactly like this. Definitely worth recording though – I’ll keep an eye out in case an obvious parallel appears in the meantime.''

Amazing find!

UPDATE:
Finally got the Silver Spoon back after my mate straighten it. It's been ready for awhile but I'm tough to get hold of with no mobile....lol

I'm glad it didn't break, it had some weak spots.
