Rick,
I was going through this thread again and i saw the May 7th post where you found a "counterstampted" gold plated Kennedy 1/2 dollar. I found a similar coin a few months back. I didnt know what it was but i kept it. As i looked at it just now, it is a 1984 Kennedy 1/2 with the dates 1960 and 1980 stamped into the face (like yours). It also has a gold tint. I was able to find a good Treasurenet Thread that explained what it was/was worth. I'm glad i saw it on your thread otherwise i would have just kept wondering. Thanks again.

Went and made everything legal today (paid the excise taxes off and re-registered the auto that was expiring Sunday) Then went food shopping leaving me 3 hours to hit a park. Watch bevel, a alum hub ? and 5.26 in clad. While in the Supermarket I saw a guy using the Coin Star made an offer of a buck for his rejects. He took it and I'm the proud owner of 16 various foreign coins, also a religious medal, token, and a 1916P Barber Dime !!!!

Rick, the thread was from Mar 21, 2008 and is entitled "JFK half dollar's with 1969/1980 stamped on them". It gives the explanation and also shows an example of hoe they were marketed and sold back when they came out. Very informative.

In terms of the hunt I picked up CWRs of pennies, nickels and quartes today, along with a box of halves. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

Happy hunting.

Thanks I looked it over, and will keep my first and dump the next. Hope to see some amazing finds from your CRH and don't ignore that metal detector. I'm shooting for over 100 in clad for the month, have today and tomorrow, need 8.00 more. Won't be ignoring any Silver that happens to find it's way my way.

Tried to bang out 8.00 to break 100 for the month but fell short as my knee and the heat beat me down clad 6.21 half a toy gun barrel, lion charm pot metal, some junk beads, keyhole, and a set of wings pot metal. Pics when I'm less wiped out.

May's clad count 98.21 one more day !

Raining drat! Well there is always my backyard. Kids use it all a playlot and I can duck in if it gets too wet so I did and hit 2.86 in clad. Also a trigger housing of some kind, a piece of Car grill, and various bits of alum flashing.

That brings the total clad count to 101.07 for May !
2015 Clad count 173.19

Slow at the moment, to much work! I do have a farm house in Maine lined up for the summer, but still looking to secure a house down here. How about yourself? Any good prospects lined up?

I tried the map link and it wasn't worth much for me out west in ca. It didn't even list many of the towns that used to be here like Sutterville, Freeport, both towns in Sacramento County. sutterville was founded by captain john sutter the founder of sacramento and the founder of gold in ca. the guy whom started the 1849 gold rush
Thanks for the link I did find a 1849 pix of the sacramento waterfront thanks to your post:thumbsup:

Congrats on breaking 100 for the month. I would take 100 for the year at this point. I loaned my detector to a friend to help him find his lost wedding ring and I haven't gotten it back...it's been weeks.

Regarding my CRH, 5000 pennies = 36 wheat, (oldest 1940) and one S.

Still searching through my 4000 nickels but so far I have found 2 war nickels, 1987 S proof, a number of S nickels (non proofs) from the 60s and 70s, 70+ nickels from the 50s, 13 non war nickels from the 40s, and amazingly 12 Jefferson nickels from the 30s. I say amazing because normally for 4000 I will get 3 maybe 4. This time I have found as many 30s as from the 40s. So far the oldest is 1938. I have about 1500 more to search through. I'm happy because my last 16000 nickels I haven't gotten any war nickels.

I havent started the 4000 quarters yet but I have seen one 1942 already.

All in all I'm pretty happy.

Get that detector back let that friend buy his own. 36 wheats in a box a good box! 2 War nickels in a box is good, 38 and 39's outnumbering 40's is great. Fill your folders, stack your silver, and sell off, dump the rest. I scored a 64P Washington in a coinstar today. Good luck with the rest of your boxes, and this would make a great start to your CRH Log.
