Capt dom,

beautiful artifact.......did you get to keep as part of your division? or did the State already claim it as part of their percentage?

What's the weight of the piece? 8's or smaller denominations?

I would expose/clean just a few to show some killer detail then leave the rest as a display.........it rocks to the 10th degree.

Thanks for the post.

Want to hear a real - "Kick in the ass"?

I use to take care to "edge clean" unique E.O."s
Take a look at these examples....

Know what happens when State division comes up... ?

They take them! They say, "Oh these are unique!" "One of a kind!"

The worst example of this was what happened with the 2 5 pound gold bars we found on the Jupiter Shipwreck!
That story makes me sick... even until this very day....

About 60 coins came out of the cow paddy E.O.
Many of them superb specimens

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

Capt,

I sold a couple of E.O's from the 1715 Fleet back in the late 90s that had cobs still attached.
They are my favorite type of natural display of wreck-site material...
I still have one today I found after the storm of '96 that has old iron pins, intact wood pieces, and K'ang Hsi porcelain still attached.

Those patties are indeed the "cream dela crop".
Thanks again for the post.

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

If our cows had dropped patties like that I wouldn't be here on this site!

Trade ya!

Hell, I'd even throw in a few extra.

Maybe a dozen or so.

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

Heh...

Thanks for appreciating that pile!
We have had even bigger ones!

I still walk with a limp from unsuccessfully attempting to drive a 1959 Super 90 with a removable hard top through a buick in 1971! Here is one of my mid life crisis present rides... she is a 30 year old 1977 gray market 911S

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

Quite similar to my 73-1/2 911S that I had rebuilt to 1990 Turbo specs after I blew a 50 cent timing chain guide.

Like driving a skateboard with brakes.

Really fast, especially on freeway onramps but no place to stretch out.

Fortunately, its still in the family.

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

Nice coin conglomerates! A friend(doc) has a 1996 911 carerra-non turbo, and I thought it was quite fast, then another friend(inherited money) bought a 1985 911 carerra turbo, all the good stuff, and took me for a ride. Oh my! They both steer like a slot car and haul serious butt, but the turbo really kicks it! It takes your breath away on each shift! I dont want a car that will get you put in jail these days for letting it breathe! Steve.

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

That ain't like the cow paddies we find around here, Dom. Gorgeous and amazing. Got any more goodies to show us? ;)

Nice car! :::::drool::::::drool::::::

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

A friend of mine has a 90 pound Cow Paddy that he said came from the Atocha. He cut a slab off one end but to do this he used 2 saw blades.
There were white pieces of metal all through the bottom portion of this chunck of copper. At first I thought they were silver coins he had cut through but he says no.
I am trying to talk hih out of the COW PADDY because it now sits in his garage in a corner doing nothing.

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

I would have a jeweler check out that 'white metal.' It could be platinum!

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

hahahah....."Kraut can"....grubby..hahahahah
Thats a good one. I was going to take over the lease on a 911 turbo that a friend had, TILL I found out what my insurance would be: $400 a month! I was under 25 and not married (sigh) so the insurance folks saw me coming. Capt Dom- WOW...what a conglomerate!
Congrats. Please elaborate on the 25 LB gold bars...I missed the info on those, or is there a web ite I could check to read about them? Thanks-and keep up the good work, WOW!

Re: Want to see a "cow paddy?"

It is amazing how quickily the stories of gold finds can grow!!!!

Now here is a perfect example!!! what i beleive I posted was two - five pound bars of gold ! not 25 pound bars of gold.... And these bard were found on our site by John Mc Cherry and his wife - one of the best treasure divering teams out there - in the ninties!

But you want to talk about gold... Remember the post of the picture of the flake of placer gold we recovered this summer. Well, Scot Christoffers a diver on our team - when he tells the story now - calls it a "chunk" of gold! Ha. ha, Ha.

At any rate all the questions and suggestions are greatfully appreciated1
