War nickels. Is there a decrease in value because of the alloy make up.

My daughter asked me to get a box of nickels. She wanted to start a collection of nickels. We got a Whitman Nickel book 1962 to 1995 and started searching. We completed the book and started on the 1938 to 1961 book. We have gone through 3 boxes of nickels and have found 6 war nickels. Coinflation put the value of between $1.90 to $1.80. So we picked up over $10 in silver for 30 cents which seems pretty good.

I was wondering if anyone has any experence in selling war nickels for the silver. Does the different alloy make up decrease the realistic value of the coins compared to dimes, quarter, halves?
