1st - I noticed this was your very first post Mike - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - Can you make out the "letters?"

Hard to tell as the pic is badly out of focus.

Looks like a war of 1812 GI50B which has a scarcity of RV65 (Albert's button book)

that's it Dug! GI50B , I appreciate the help very much. My daughter will be very happy that it was identified as an Officers' button. it does read "Xtra Orange" on the back.

Any idea on what it's worth?

Any idea on what it's worth?

It's worth a lifetime of memories. The memory of the hunt, the memory of the dig, the memory of the discovery, the memory of the look on her face when you tell her the historical significance of the find to this nation's history. Fair warning if she decides to sell it, she will certainly suffer seller's regret later on.

I don't sell or buy relics so I don't follow pricing. If you are inquiring for bragging rights someone else in this forum will be better suited to assist you there, sorry.

Thanks Dug, I agree with the more important memories, I have never sold a coin or anything else I've ever found metal detecting, I was curious about it's value. It's in very good shape.

I'd love to know the value of that button myself. Or a translation of 'rv65' rarity. Soapbox rants are always unfortunate.

Well said Dug. I agree.

You guys are the best, bought the Alberts Book, excellent btw.
Discovered RV is Relative Value, so RV65 is about $65 I think. Very cool
