It was an unusually warm weekend in the South. Sunday was a record high of 80 degrees! It was warm enough for this little fellow to come out and bask in the sun.

I hunted solo this weekend. I went to a few different places, mostly old house sites. I found over 150 coins, mostly modern. Just in case anyone is counting, I did manage to get 18 wheaties.

I eye balled a pirate rubber duckie and a yellow marble. I dug the Tootsie fire truck right next to the walkway from the front door. Apparently, he was on the way to a three alarm blaze, when he careened off of the walkway, and was lost in the grass!

Now, on to the shiny stuff!
I got a nice high signal, dug a plug, and could see the edge of a coin. It looked silver, but was really dark, so I wasn't sure that it was.

Turned out to be this 1955 quarter. It came from a low spot in the yard, where the water collected. Apparently, that caused the coin to develop a lot of tarnish. In my earlier days, I would have cleaned this coin, but I now prefer them in "as found" condition. Welcome home, George!

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!
