It was an unusually warm weekend in the South. Sunday was a record high of 80 degrees! It was warm enough for this little fellow to come out and bask in the sun.

I hunted solo this weekend. I went to a few different places, mostly old house sites. I found over 150 coins, mostly modern. Just in case anyone is counting, I did manage to get 18 wheaties.

I eye balled a pirate rubber duckie and a yellow marble. I dug the Tootsie fire truck right next to the walkway from the front door. Apparently, he was on the way to a three alarm blaze, when he careened off of the walkway, and was lost in the grass!

Now, on to the shiny stuff!

I got a nice high signal, dug a plug, and could see the edge of a coin. It looked silver, but was really dark, so I wasn't sure that it was.

Turned out to be this 1955 quarter. It came from a low spot in the yard, where the water collected. Apparently, that caused the coin to develop a lot of tarnish. In my earlier days, I would have cleaned this coin, but I now prefer them in "as found" condition. Welcome home, George!

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!

An awesome just-as-it-is GW Quarter find! :icon_thumleft:

Nice silver find

Congrats Tom on a Sweet day of digging!! The 18 wheats and tootsie would have made for a great hunt alone then throw in the Washington, Awesome!! Love finding those silver quarters myself, ended up with two our last hunt.
The kid finds the gold and silver halves and the silver quarters and silver flatware always find me.

Nice! congratulations of the finds, sounds like a good place to investigate more..
