Hey everyone! I just found a button today while metal detecting near a Civil War site and I need help determining what exactly it is...It has four leaves on it and has two berries on each side of it with the classic etching in the background and on the back it has Warranted Fast as a backmark...:BangHead: please help me find out some info on this button haha

First I thought you may have dug a Connecticut State button but do not think so with that backmark.. Warranted Rich? Warranted Best? Warranted Superior ? Warranted Treble Plated ? in other words, def need pics!

Here is the button...it is only about a quarter inch in length and I checked the back again and it's 100% warranted fast...a mystery indeed... :o

Also I tried to get a photo of the back but no luck. The printing was too small for my camera

I'm not one of the button experts, but have some knowledge, and I've never heard of a button backmark as 'Warranted Fast.' Are you sure it isn't marked Warranted Best? Perhaps part of the "B" is missing and looks like an "F." Do you have a macro on your camera; it looks like a little flower. Breezie

Think it may just be a civilian button from about the mid 19th century. Lot of flower type design buttons, etc are civilian, someone like CannonBall may be better to 100% ID it.

You can try to take the photo through a magnifying glass. Just a thought.

Nice find!

I took the picture through a magnifying glass. You can really see "fast" in the second picture

So it is. That's apparently not a common, but not unheard of back mark, as noted on the link below (under Q, with the Quality marks). What confuses the search is that this Was a popular quality listing for textiles (fabrics and clothes). My guess is that yours is a Victorian Era fashion button, but I'm not an expert in buttons (and only so-so with fashion style eras).

as the link notes, uncommon back marks does not necessarily translate into valuable, but it's a nice button anyway.
