I suspect this is a water or exhaust manifold, but not sure. The thing is large, much larger than what you would see on a modern car or truck.

Found around 14 inches deep below a bunch of broken glass jars.

This use to be a sawmill community back in the early 1900s. Maybe this came off one of the train engines? Or maybe from the sawmill itself? Everything at the sawmill was steam powered, so there had to be something to get water to the steam engines.

Valve stem off a Model T was found around 200 feet from where this was found.

Added bonus, pieces of charcoal are embedded with the dirt attached to the part. I will post about the charcoal in another thread.

So what is it? Possible water or exhaust manifold of off a Model t, truck, narrow gauge train locomotive, steam engine from the sawmill...., or something else?

Appears to me as a water manifold - hose end and 2 bolt flange.

Looks kind of similar to the top connection of the engine that the hose would connect to the radiator. Most likely to a pre 30s vehicle.

I think their right. The thermostat would be right under it.

Looks like the upper radiator water hose neck on my Model A.

Water Manifold...bolts to engine and the rubber hose goes to the radiator!

Simple water outlet. Nothing "manifold" about it.

So, nobody here is thinking exhaust manifold? Hum....
Like maybe somebody cut a set of headers?

To me, it looks more cast iron than steel.
