Greetings from Mother-Russia!

Want to share some photos of sights and finds from my hunting at Novgorod and Pskov areas in May 2014.
That was really the best expedition I've ever had!
We were very lucky with weather and had enough interesting spots to visit. By the "spots" I mean places where were villages destroyed durning WW2 or even earlier. Most of these settlements are mentioned in tax-books of 16th century so we hoped for a really interesting finds







And one more photo from the place where used to be a village Bykovo.
Sign on the memorial says:
"Civilians burned alive by nazis invaders in January 1944"

These are russian coins of 15-17 century, so-called "scales". They really looks like a fish scale, some of them are smaller than nail on pinky finger.


About the cameo - that's a cheap brooch from 1920-1930th. The base is made of tin-plate, black layer and relief are made of some sorts of plastic. So unfortunately that's not a jewelry, just imitation.

Makes one recall the 'Hell' of WW2.

Do you find lots of Bullets , Cases & Mortar /bomb Pieces.?

Most of these crosses were made in 1700th - 1910th, but some pieces are much older.
The oldest one here is dated 13th - 14th century.


Next one (by the age) is dated second half of 14th - 15th century.


And these are crooses and icons of the end of 15th - 16th century.



You know, actually I'm collecting such crosses, icons and other russian christianity relics, so if You are interested I can show some more of my collection

And about "echo of war" on the places we hunt - yes, there are usually lots of different military rubbish, mostly rifle's rounds and cartridge cases (both russian and german). Some places where were long and heavy positional fights are overcrowded with different parts of artillery projectiles and mortar mines (the most common finds are copper driving bands and aluminium nose fuzes).
Sometimes you can find even something like this
