It's rare I find points and most often find shards but today I was going over an old gravel bar where I haven't been in a while and found this cute little point :happy2: but sadly it's broken at the base. The shard was upstream a bit.

This pic is after I cleaned it up a bit. 100_7578.webp

Does it look like it's made of rhyolite?

Aww is the base gone? You did better than me this weekend though. I do not know on the rhyolite. It is not in my area. You always find pottery in that creek don't you? I am wanting to go hunting now. : )

Yep the base is gone and the spot where this was is downstream of the spot where we first started finding the pottery shards. I was surprised to see the point there since the others I found were pretty far upstream.

You know you read about these hunts and then you kinda start imagining the place. My little creeks here flood and push material way down stream. Pottery really moves. I used to rake out the gravel bars and throw water on them and find points. Of course it was low water and hot summer days.

I was raking it today to find shards because the sand was mixed in so well and there it was. The water is low there right now but it will rise up a bit in a few days if we get the snow they think we're going to get.

Nice point shame its damaged. Always nice to find some stone when doing a hunt. Nice finds

Super glad you got a point !!!! Broke or not they are fun to find ;)

Pottery will always stay closer to the top of the soil and points being heavy will be deeper, Great finds:thumbsup:

...my goodness...guess I missed seeing this! How wonderful that you found those Peaches, very, very nice for sure :occasion14:

that's awesome, just the way it is. What is the stone on the right though?
