Hooked up with Digger-Girl this weekend and dug the cellar hole that was the birth place of her Dad. Area has lots of history. Site was logged for RR Ties for the RR town of Annadell. Town is long gone. Found lots of iron and relics.Found a large CW Heart Rosette in the front yard of cellar hole not more then two inchs deep.DG will post some pics.

Dug site of long gone town of Montgomery 1826-1872? Burnside stoped in for two nights on his way to Knoxville TN with 15000 troops. Found lots of iron and some bullets.one flat button that predates cw, T MOORE EXTRA GILT. DG found her first cw bullet,BOY WAS SHE HAPPY. Sites have lots of history and much to dig. We look forward to getting back soon. Thanks for looking and HH..

Those curved iron things are Ox shoes. We find lots of them here in Virginia. I guess ox was the preferred beast of burden for the farmers...

Nice finds! Hit the CW camp hard. Lots of cool stuff still to be found.

Rosette sound's cool Jarman....Keep going at this site,look's like it'll keep you busy.Nice find's!!

Very cool finds!

Actually those curved pieces look like broken horse shoes. I've dug my share of oxen shoes and they are not.

Thanks all, Lots of iron and shoes of every kind was dug up. Just placed a few in pic. First site was logged for RR ties, and about every tenth hit was a shoe or a part of one. We expect to see lots of items dug here. It was great watching Digger Girl because this place dates back early with her family and its history.

Glad she can see some of the things she is finding about her family's past. could not be any better.

Sounds like a great time, Jman! Always love when ya'll post the site pics. Thanks!

Congrats on those finds and good luck on your return!

Nana :)

JARMAN and I had a great time this weekend! I've just been slow about posting pictures. Will get them up tonight. I spoke to the little old lady that lives down the road from my dad's birthplace. She's in her late 80's and has lived there all her life (would love to dig her yard too, but haven't asked her yet :)) She told me that the house my dad was born in (in 1928) was a 3 story house with a basement and there were several other houses nearby as well. She described it as a little community. Nothing but woods now.

as for the CW site~ Oh my God!!!! I was so thrilled to pull out that bullet! My first ever! The more research I do on that area the more fascinated I am. Should be lots of good stuff to find. ;D HH!!!

Nice hunt and finds and you got to hunt with a girly! Those look like broken horse shoes, ox shoes are wider, at least here in Europe. I usually dig 2 or 7 every hunt when I'm on the fields. HH, Mike

Great pics and a sweet spot to hunt! Love the key ring with key. Sounds like you guys are gonna have a blast there!
