I'm looking at this iron piece dug out of an east-facing slope and can't figure it out. I think it is some sort of hook on the end with the narrower neck and wider body. Was the iron once flat or always rolled up? I don't have a clue about this one. Any comments would be appreciated.

Looks to be the right size and the right shape to be a version of Singletree-hook, with most of the hook broken off. Here's a photo of a similar one, but not an exact duplicate. Also, for folks who don't already know, a diagram showing where and how singletree (and doubletree) hooks are used.
