weird penny

I found this wheat penny today the front and back are set in like a nickel but a lot more dept its color is off to it does stick to a magnet and its a 51 any help would be nice

Congrats! It maybe a steel cent. If you can post pics of it someone may be able to verify what you found.

What...?? Any way you can get a picture up ? Sounds like maybe a magicians coins ? Steel Cents were made only in 1943...

Not a fake, plated. I have one from 1958. Somewhere
It is weakly magnetic and noticeably heavier

I agree, probably was on a chain and broke off. The ring around the penny is probably the only part attracted to the magnet.
