I am new to treasure hunting, although I have been fascinated by the subject for some time. I have been doing extensive research on history in the area which I live and by using old maps and many hours of walking, I have been able to find several stone cellar holes. While out there today, I found an old well opening approx 3 ft in diameter. It appears to have been filled in, but I was able to remove approx 8 ft of boulders. I pushed a metal probe rod I was using to poke around with down another 6 ft. Does anyone have any tips as to how deep these can be, what can be found in them if anything. I am 99 percent sure this is a virgin site

You can find just about anything in an old well. One thing I would not do is go at it alone. Always have a companion and some good rope. Some form of communication to the outside world would not be a bad idea either
