Here is the place we have hunted the last couple weekends. I didn't do all that great here today, but my hunting partner got a 14K ring, a merc, a war nickel, and some wheaties. I will have to settle for the 64-D dime, Pendants, 2 wheaties, and about 30 clad coins.

You know? I would rather be denied permission by a property owner than to drive by the place for the next 10 years and just wonder what could have been found, if only we'd asked. Know what I mean? We've had some pretty good luck with knocking on doors. I guess the worst thing that could happen, would be for them to say: shu, get outa here.

I hear ya on that. I've been driving by this old farm by my house for 15 years now. The old man passed away years ago. I finally was able to track down his daughter and ask permission just today as a matter of fact. Although she said "no" to me MDing on the property, at least I can get it out of my mind now. I've pounded on a few other farm doors in the past, and also go a "no". I feel lucky to have gotten permission to the farm I'm hunting now.
Next week I am heading up to Indiana for a few days. I have two old churches in mind out in the country. I may give it a shot.

I have gotten more yes responses than no. Be brave and knock on that door. I have found a lot of really great stuff around churches. Way to go on the great finds Stromtrooper and partner!!!

What great finds.
In my experience the religious icons will have been 'blessed' by a priest, or pastor by a different name. They are likely to be cheaply made but of some significance to the previous owner - at the time. So treasure them for that history.

The gold ring is intriguing - lost or thrown away? lol

The 1945 dime - I have one, I found in NZ - a story in itself. I'll post it one day soon.

Churches - I have identified several old Churches in near vicinity, all in isolated country locations, which are top of my list (with permission of course) as soon as I buy an MD machine - with permission of course.
