I was able to get out yesterday afternoon and do a little digging. This site had a house on it on an 1850’s map. A sidewalk is still present and a little further up the road is a stone step. Lots of glass and shards laying on the surface still. A mix of metals from trash to farming to relic. I think I found part of a cattle tag. It has an “8” in it. I found the remains of a knife , which was pretty cool. I found a neat little wheel that I have no idea whether it’s from a toy or machine. The best thing I found , I boogered up royally. Not only did I put a gouge in it with the shovel, but I broke it in half. It still counts as my first token. I don’t have any information on it. It says “ZIMMER & SON” on one side and “GOOD FOR 5c LOAF” on the other. I had a fun time.

I am thinking this step was to a barn.

Serious old stuff!
Congrats!

Clobbered the token.
I know how that goes. Dig stuff with utmost care a gazillion times and then go to just remove a junk signal , and clobber a goodie...

Nice!!! Congrats!!!!!

Good to see you getting out WD
Been there-done the shovel damage-in the field the dig wide/dig deep theory is the best.
Tried to source your token, but nothing came up.

Such a great token. My heart hurts for you. Hopefully there is another hiding out there!

Thanks, releventchair. We need rain. The ground is like concrete. Some call me Grace. :dontknow:
:laughing9:

LOL if they do, it is what I deserve! I could have stopped digging sooner, but didn't.
Nope-You just entered into the school of hard knocks.
It's a hard lesson that stings-you remember them-well until it happens again.
The site will provide you something better-just have to dig it.

Thank you, Pepperj. I have a history book on the area, but I can't find it at the moment. I swear I had it this time last year looking at something. Hid it from myself, I did.

Congrats on a new spot! Cool token, even broken. I've found a few of the metal caster wheels just like that, not sure what they're from, but vary greatly in size. My smallest is about 1" and the largest is about 3".

Thank you, oldmxrat. Would be interesting to find out. Winter is coming. Good time to research stuff.

So long as you had fun. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about!
