I'm sure all who peeked at my April the one-th post are going
to feel a little better after this one.

You see, I did get out yesterday for a longer than
usual walk. All seemed to go pretty good.
But, an unusual pattern emerged.

I sort of pride myself in knowing my machine
pretty well and calling my shots is a practice
I always do. Helps me to learn.

Anyway, of course, I miss a few and sometimes it's
a happy mistake, sometimes, not. Well, yesterday
I got so I don't think I could've called my name
correctly if I read it off my ID! :dontknow:

It started with the very first plug. Very loud
90-95, shallow. I was near a tennis court so I called
"Tennis can lid".

2017 (272).jpg

" APRIL FOOL! "

Pretty dirty, looking a bit worse for wear.
I said, "Hmmm! Neat little tin key fob"
More on that later.

Then, as I was near to a tot lot, I figured, why not?
I'm going along clearing the sharp metals, getting a few coins
for my troubles. Calling them as I go.

"Nail, tab, zincoln, dime, quarter, dime, nickle, zincoln, zincoln, zincoln.....whaaaaaaa!?!?!"

2017 (273).jpg
2017 (274).jpg

" APRIL FOOL! "

INDIAN HEAD!!!!!????? :dontknow:

In attempt to make this very long story a little bit shorter,
the whole day went like that for me.

2017 (263).jpg
2017 (264).jpg

The key? "penny" the whistle "quarter"
" APRIL FOOL! "

2017 (265).jpg

Obviously, "a can"
" APRIL FOOL! "

2017 (266).jpg

Both of these? together, absolutely "quarters"!
" APRIL FOOL! "

2017 (267).jpg

Each of the wheaties? "zincolns"
" APRIL FOOL! " X 3

2017 (268).jpg

All I can say is wow! And....a fairly scarce date to boot!
Show & tell gone wrong?

So, finishing the day, OTWBTTC, I get this
obvious "dime" hit...

2017 (275).jpg
2017 (276).jpg

" APRIL FOOL! " LOL

So, again, I move toward the car. And at this
point I'm giving the Lord praise for such a wonderful
day. But, I said, I was actually, a little bit glad it was over.

I got within a foot of the car and got a beep.

" APRIL FOOL! "

I called, "quarter"

2017 (277).jpg

" APRIL FOOL! " :tongue3:

2017 (269).jpg

Fishy's happy! (the owl is sterling)

2017 (270).jpg

Remember my tinny key fob?

2017 (271).jpg

" APRIL FOOL! "

That'll teach me!!! LOLOLOL

Hope you enjoyed the long trek! Thanks!

Now that's a nice walk congrats on all the keepers and thanks for another interesting post

Thanks Prof! Nice to "hear".

I'm usually fooled the other way. Guess HE was showing me what it felt like to be pranked. LOL
Especially the "tinny key fob"! After a bit more cleaning and researching it truly is a NICE piece!
Dolan Bullock company was established in 1917! I thought it was plated due to it's appearance
but it must've been coated with something as the silver & gold both test out.

A really nice surprise!

That Indian sure didn't stay in the ground very long. Was it just under the grass? Nice finds Gary!

No, Dave, as I mentioned, this was a surprise find under the wood chips on a tot-lot. I just brushed 'em back and there it was, (either a show & tell gone wrong or maybe a couple sticky fingers in papa's coins. ;) )

Thanks!

The only indian head I found so far was in a kids playground at a school and came out with good color also.
It was also at a place I had been 5 times previously under some parallel bars where there is always a bunch of
new change? Hard to believe it had been there longer then a day??? Did you say it hit as a zincoln? I have heard that
before from someone else. Mine hit as a regular penny and was about 2-3" down in mulch

Wow great indian!, good for you that someone dropped that sucker recently. I like that silver/gold item too, great hunting!

Ya know that gold/silver piece keeps getting more and more interesting. It doesn't show up in pictures but it's engraved. The front has a monogram. I think the letters are F. S. J. They're engraved in a one of the old letter fonts. And, on the back? There's a large "100%" engraved in the same manner.
Certainly a personal piece! I think I might could just begin to like this gold/silver piece. The whole thing weighs in at 21.5 grams too!

Gary,
good show old chap.jpg

These are the days us "park and lawn" hunters all dream of! Great finds, really like the sterlings (and gold) and the IH penny must have been a recent "Kid drop" for the area? Sub 8-)

Am I missing something?

That lil gold & silver, monogrammed item just got a little more interesting.
A friend of a friend just offered me 200 for it? ??? :icon_scratch:
I know it's quite possible that it's old. But, the 21.5 grams is mostly the silver!
Sure, there's a bit of gold too, but, 200!?!? Hmmmmm....

It's not even in all that great of shape! :dontknow:

The maker is well known but still.....? :icon_scratch:

Sweet hunt with some Sweet finds!! I too like that gold/silver piece and great save on that Indian.
Congrats!!

WOW, that was one awesome day out there! :occasion14:
Great story and pics! It was like they were begging you to pluck them out of the dirt.
Good variety of finds. April 1st might be your new fav day to go out swinging!!
