These materials were found in the NW Piedmont region of NC. They are the type of arrowheads, my tradin buddies and I are finding. 5 of them are my own personal finds. Most of them were found digging out the banks of rivers and creeks. Nothing pretty or spectacular about them. They are well-used, weathered, damaged, or broken. Not all finds are perfect though. I am like the guys on American Pickers who say, "I value age and patina." Overall, I'm just glad to have the opportunity to find and learn about Archaic weapons in NC.

Quartzite Materials from NC

Here's a few quartzite materials from my collection. The knife measures about 3.5" long. Too bad that one in the middle has a tip ding.

NICE! You've got some good ones there. I am amazed at the size of the points you guys find.

Thanks! I really don't know why. I know one thing, like Crocodile Dundee says, "That's a knife."

TNJoe you have some nice NC finds. Our lithic lacks in beauty, when compared to many other states. You have some old guilford points on the bottom row. I see a morrow mt. And the one with the bifurcate base/stem is near as good as it gets for field finds. Near all, if not all of what you have here is early early archaic or transitional. Here in NC, one find in a day like any of those is a Jim Dandy of a day! I love crude points. I think the rugged appearance is what true Stone Age is supposed to look like. Those finds are all I know.

Sorry Joe, I addressed this to the wrong person. My bad. I still agree with you.

Those are some great finds and welcome to the site. We really enjoy seeing all finds it helps on the itch when we cant get out to do a hunt. Thanks for posting and stay a while, rock

Thanks yall! I just enjoy seeing or finding something that ancient humans made. Just holding a piece of history, no telling what story may be behind it.
