"WELLS FARGO" STAGECOACHES TO COBB @ CO STAGECOACH STOPS 1855"
As a young man, american Freeman Cobb worked for Wells Fargo stage coaches. Cobb and 3 other americians John Peck,James Swanston and John Lamber came to the Victorian Gold digging of the 1850's and tried their luck at gold mining.With numerous towns and gold rush springing up across Australia ,Cobb decided to set up a stagecoach company and named it Cobb @ Co.He gained the help from may american drivers and coaches and set up an empire across the countries.The Company started at Forresthill digging in 1854 (named Castlemaine today). This location is only 23 miles from my house.
.The horses were changed every 40 miles so theres countless stagecoach stops across the state and whole country. .

This weekend i went to a place called the Mandurang Junction.The site contains a disused church,tavern and stagecoach hotel which latter was used as a boarding house for single men.The post exchange was done here and there was once a school and general store.Most is gone today and this area is only used by local farmers.There heeps of finds including a 1855 half penny token from tassie Colonials, silver coins and a some modern sterling silver too and a swag of relics.Swag is a big bag or camp bed. heres the finds and pics thanks for looking
