for a few hours - heading to Jamaica this weekend - don't know what weathers gonna be like up here when I get back
so made the best of the nice day
It was a day of mostly small targets - This place has been pounded by so many - rare to get any large finds
kept hoping for a 1/2 reale that others missed - my friend and I have gotten more than a few of them here in the past
I got the "fish scale" Canadian 5c silver the other day and the bent seated 1/2 dime
persistence paid off - not the Spanish silver I was hoping for - but got another 1/2 dime - 1857

handle of Ballister seal spoon a good sign - circa 1600s - Ive found more than a few of those here too
the barrel shaped "musketball" is what we call an "indian musketball"
mostly only found in this town - friend got 2 the other day here - the first settlers here were attacked and
massacred by Indians in the 1600s - they took all the guns - but the ball molds were hidden or destroyed
was common practice supposedly to throw them in a fire if hope was lost so enemy would not get them
The Indians would melt the lead and as it cooled would roll it out using rocks or wood and form it into rods
and then cut to size and fire these - we think they are cool to find

Cool finds man. Great 1/2C. The spoon is rocking and def early. Love the Indian rounds. I've actually found rolled lead rod just like that and about that caliber. Actually kept them because I suspected they were significant. Can't wait to get home!

Congrats
