Went looking for the civil war again and found this instead.

Found this ring in the middle of of a farm about a half mile from anywhere or any roads. There was a civil war battle in this area. I think the ring may be copper plated with gold I am not sure. Any one have any ideas as to age and who may have made this type of ring and what the stone is?
I have found some civil war bullets and a few old shotgun shells in this field also.

After looking around on the net last night for a while. I now think the stone is probably coral also. Still have not found one like it or have any idea about the date it was made. If any of you come across one like it or have any ideas or details let me know. Looking for victorian cameo in searches is as close as I could get to finding somthing like it.

Nice find! I'm no expert,but that looks like a mold for sealing envelopes with hot wax.I saw something similar recently on tv,but it was a medallion with a different picture/facing. The image on there almost looks like a woman praying.
