Hi guys what great dog tags you have over there, love the differant shapes. Here are some frome West Aus my oldest is from athe coastal town of rockingham and is 1907. Raoul
Great dog tags, they made a fantastic collection and of course the older the better. In the U.S. we had dog tax tags before rabies tags. All are nice for the collections.May you find more.
Hi, May I use your photo on my website at www.doglicense.org? Your photo of them is outstanding.
I assume that you dug them all.? I have some from Aussie going back to the 1800s. Aussie tags are thicker than American dog licenses. Canadian tags and ones from Australia are thick and substantial.
Aussie tags have an EMU and KANGAROO on them. I bought one several years ago from my lost treasures ad-a guy was digging in his flowerbed in Oregon and found it...................
Many of my old Australian dog registration tags still have the leather collar loop attached to it. Canadian tags had metal loops that folded around and fastened onto a collar and these stood the test of time. Leather attachment loops unfortunately, became brittle, cracked or hardened over time.
The tag with the leather loop is a pre 1900 Australian dog tag. An Emu and Kangaroo is on the front side. The district number and serial number is printed on the reverse.
