Hello Arc, or maybe fun wrecking internet Nazi with fun facts no one cares about. Just a heads up I own a Side Sonar scanning and salvage business. I can be out scanning for city cables, pipelines or whatever. Blow holes to locate 24" water mains to inspect them for overall conditions If they needs to be replaced. So no one taking a ounce of gear from me. I even use under water metal detectors to follow these cables or water mains. So no one can tell me I can't do shit out there. You know the answer to filing permits with Florida and how that works out. All good till you locate anything then no permit for excavation they steal the site. So probably stay in your lane let others have fun. You ever tried actually going out in the ocean to scan or look for anything? It's a damn miracle if you find anything with even top of the line gear out there. So try fun wrecking someone else's post. I want to save history not let it rot into the ocean lost forever. Treasure can be anything you find to be treasure. Tell a child the sea shells they found in the sand is not treasure to them! I didn't say I'm going to go pull up gold bars or silver ones. I think I'm one day I've never seen so many uptight people who probably don't actually go out and look for anything. But got opinions on it. I'll go use my gear to look for shark teeth blow holes down on Venice find huge teeth and it would be a blast. It's the adventure of finding. Geez you guys need good whisky to calm down

FYI, is generally illigal in Florida coastal waters to use a blower off shore without permits, it is considered a form of unauthorized dredging and a violation of environmental protection laws. In other words you cant blow holes looking for shark teeth without a permit.

Any activity that involves dredging or filling in Florida's surface waters requires a permit from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and/or the relevant Water Management District, and potentially the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Honestly I don't know anyone on here no one, my post was a fun one because ARC thinks it's best to tell others what they can cannot do isn't needed. I didn't say I'm stealing, pirating, ruining a ship wreck. Hell maybe I get lucky with my gear find a unknown wreck then might be worth applying for a permit so they can take the wreck anyways that is known. But my post was really trying to see if someone out there had a passion for adventure, so cool the hell of or kick me off this sight I don't care. Clearly there's a bunch of you internet keyboard warriors out there being shitty on assumption. So go on do what you want. But look at each comment on my end nothing said I'm going to break laws. If you or ARC are sensitive on insults don't oppress me for being me. I don't do well with dumb people responding on women emotions over facts.

I work with the cities and state the Army Corp on projects, I blow out marinas dock areas, and work with the marine biology here in Florida. You keep telling me what I can and cannot do idiot

Good thing I work with the Army Corp, coast guard, sand dredging, marinas, marine biology, all here in Florida Legally. I don't do things that break laws.

Personally... I don't give 2 craps what you say to tell ya the truth... your credibility flew out the window the minute your responses came.

I need to interject here. I think it is a shame that this posting turned into an argument. I do not know Florida salvage law (other than what I know about the 1715 fleet which is still being salvaged by subcontractors to the lease owners as well as Atocha site which I also believe is still being investigated). I do not believe there is anything wrong with running side scanning sonar as well as a proton magnetometer and recording hits. If you dive and see something above the sand, not disturbing it, I do not think there is anything wrong with that either (you can dive and view a cannon/cannons from the 1715 wrecks, but no detectors allowed). Before doing so, I may check with the lease owners or FL but it’s on the web if you look. I also know there is a process of ‘arresting’ a wreck in court (I have seen this done at various locations along the mid-Atlantic coast) but again, that comes to FL and consulting with a maritime attorney.
