I had to get out Sunday afternoon for a hunt. It rained most all day Saturday and Sunday was very overcast and windy but at least it was not too cold (about 60). I decided to hit a couple of old house sites that I haven't been to in a couple of months even if the fields haven't been plowed. The couple of inches of rain that we got on Saturday made the signals good, the ground easy to dig, and wasn't too muddy as I thought it might be. My finds were:
~4 scrappy wheat cents
~1 buffalo nickle (unreadable date)
~1 George Washington medalion/coin (this thing about did me in when I first dug it all I could think was old large copper with good detail - not!)
~Naval Reserve Honorable Discharge pin
~a flat button in rough shape
~1 aluminum button (thought for sure I had a nice silver coin)
~pocket watch
~compact, sinker, square nail, spoon, dog snap, and several whatzits
~6 marbles (I love finding marbles)
~1 bottle embossed with Whitehall (dug this while digging a signal that turned out to be foil)

As the day ended it started to rain again but I managed to get out for three hours and had a good time ... Thanks for looking ~ Jimmy

Good digs :)

Nice finds,

I would have beared the conditions for those finds. That GW is awesome. Is it dated. And what does it commemorate.

Hey Jer ... soaked the medalion in hot peroxide for a bit to clean it up ... the back is still tough reading ... the dates on the front are 1732 -1932 so it must be commerorating Washington's 200th birthday ... Thanks for looking ~ Jimmy
