Went to a small town next to hattiesburg as I haven't hit any banks there. The first 3 banks I stopped at barely had any halves at all but I did manage to get a 1967 40%. I was happy. We decided to stop by one more bank as it was around 420ish. I asked the ladies if they had any halves and came up with about $35 in loose and as I was turning to leave the head teller spoke up and said they had $400 in halves in the vault. I said I'd take them, She brings out 32 rolls of halves in clear plastic tubes all organized by year and mint. Most of them are mint state but there was no silver. The other 8 rolls that were just in 8 regular paper rolls didn't give me much hope. Me and a Friend stopped at subway to eat dinner and I was thinking about those unopened rolls... I get back to the truck and open all but the last one, sad and disappointed I regrettabley opened the last roll and I couldn't believe my eyes. The whole roll was almost silver!!! Final count on the roll was 15 40%s and 1 1964 Kennedy that I am 95% sure is Accented Hair!! Will post pics soon if K is online. :headbang: As Riley says, It is still out there!

Wow!!!!! WTG!!!!

I am happy for you, sir!!!!

Re: What a day!!!Almost my first full solid roll!

great finds!

I like how it came down to the last roll - it kind of makes it more interesting and dramatic that way.

And finding those nice clads in plastic tubes is a nice find too! If they are unc they have some collectible value plus those tubes are worth about $.50 each. I've been meaning to get me some coin tubes myself soon and I'd love to find some for free while scoring some unc clad halves @ the same time. :)

No wonder my silver finds have sucked lately, it all got sent down your way! :dontknow:

Re: What a day!!!Almost my first full solid roll!

Awesome score!!!

The teller said she had $400 in the vault(40 rolls), but only brought out 32 rolls. Doesn't it kill you wondering what was in the other 8 rolls?

HH!

There was 40 rolls in the vault. 32 in plastic, 8 in regular. She gave me all of them. I found the silver in the last paper roll.

Nice score! :icon_thumleft: Keep pluggin' away and you'll get that solid roll!

I didn't think I was ever going to get a solid roll. I remember my first "almost." I had purchased $1180 CWRs at 1 bank. 117 of those rolls were re-wrapped yellow & white String (Loomis) rolls and contained exactly what you expect to find in re-wraps. The 118th was a generic brown wrapper and contained 19 40% if I remember correctly. Always buy them all.

That's why it pays to buy it all. Oops, I just gave away the secret, congrats!
