Hit the parents lawn again and found a few good items and a heart pounder. A nice gold ring with the name Clara inscribed in it. A decent shaped Indian head penny 1893 and a one cent piece that I couldn't tell what it was.
Well I have let them soak in olive oil for a bit, and the cent I couldn't tell what it was now looks to be a Flying Eagle Cent!
At least thats the detail im getting off of it right now. Man my hearts pounding. I cannot read the date yet, and the anticipation is killing me, lol. Will post pics soon.

I was able to read the end of America and see the tail feathers. At first I had just thought another Indian head, lol.
Now if my luck can hold out and that date is 1856.

Well I was able to get a date, 1857 :-[
Oh well, still a sweet find, will post the photos after I finish cleaning it up :)

Nice find. I definitely want to see these photos.

Welcome to the Fleagle Club!

I love that eagle.

Just to update, went back out for a couple of hours and found a 1944 walking liberty half dollar! By far has to be my best day of metal detecting :)
Of course im finally realizing that those deep targets that read iron aren't always what they say. Pictures on there way soon :)

Heres some photos, the flying eagle is still too dirty but I have it in a potato, so soon hopefully it will be all pretty :)
In the meanwhile, here's my other finds..

And Clara's ring. Im not sure if its pure gold, but it does have a little boxed 16 inside of it.

Isn't it great that we can buy these coins from a dealer somewhere or a coin shop and not get the least bit excited, then we dig the same coins up, maybe not in as great a shape, and the excitement practically overwhelms us?

That's what I like most about this hobby.

Very nice finds, and to find them in your parents' yard! AWESOME all the way around, congrats on some GREAT finds!

Yea, the parents place is my old stand by whenever I have bad days at my other locations. Its an old 1800's home, so no matter how long I detect it I always know theres something else hanging out there. Of course I never expected all in one day :)
I think I may make a call also and see if my towns historical society can solve the mystery of "Clara". Would be interesting to find out who it is.

See if you can get records of past owners of the house..maybe Clara lived there.

Alright, here it is, sure is a nice one :)
