I am kinda surprised there are no votes for War Relics, I figured that would be a popular one. My Dad and I both have "Dream" finds, like finds we talk about finding on every single hunt, lol. Mine is a George Washington Button, and my Dads is a Mason Jar full of Silver. We always make fun of each other about them, it's a hoot. HH, Rich

I voted war relics. Those are my favorite

You may want to try and vote again, I see 0 for War Relics, unless maybe mine is acting up for some reason? Not sure.

I like finding coins to offset the cost of my hobby, but the the thing that makes my day is when I find gold or silver jewelry.

Here in SW Florida, not much other than coins to get me excited,.... I am very excited to be hunting some really old dirt, in Western Maryland in a couple of weeks. Chances are I'll find lots of old junk, not knowing what it is, and the pros here on tnet will help ID my trash/relics.

Anything that's worth more than my time.

I want to dig up a lost Minelab detector.

I'm after a learning experience. It doesn't have to be silver or gold, but it's great when it is. If something has any kind of writing or a date on it, especially if I don't know what it is...I then have phase II of my quest to look forward to which is research, discovery(realization) and learning. I just really like the idea of answering a question, bridging two points of time, then and now for a story. I'm a little categorically strange I think because I must date everything I find. In my mind lost items still in the ground are unappreciated(naturally) from since a time unknown, then when I find something, I date/place and isolate it(reallocate interest). Then a given context and item can be related and appreciated again and with better clarity. I just like this whole process. That's what I am in it for, what I look for, that opportunity.

de oro nailed it

Adventure & mystery & sanity, mostly. I go to the beach, put on the headphones, start searching for the unknown, and talk to myself all afternoon. Oh well, two out of three ain't bad.

I want to dig up a lost Minelab detector.

that's funny right there !!!

I just go to get out. Be one with the coil, so to speak. I don't know crap about coins or relics. I have to look up about everything I find other than pull tabs and pop tops, I'm slowly learning though from everyone's cool finds on here. I like that it's always a learning experience. I've learned enough about pull tabs and pop tops already though. I've found a lil bit of gold, silver coins, buffalo nickels, Wheaties, Indians...more neat things than I can type. I haven't sold anything yet, just keep putting the good items in a mini treasure chest. My favorite find was a 1850's silver spoon. (it put me in the 1800s club at least...sortakinda). I like digging it all, I don't think you could smack the smile off my face on days I get to go and hunt.

I want to dig up a lost Minelab detector.
and I would like to sell one! But because it ain't worth nothin, I will probably wrap my Quattro around a tree, then throw it in the creek!:BangHead:

any detector you have that
ain't worth nothin,
especially a Minelab,
feel free to package it up & mail it to me :laughing7:

I am actually kind of surprised how many people are not after a specific find. I know anything found is better then nothing found, but I really thought that a lot of people set out with more of a specific find in mind. Like kind of researched areas for specific things whether it be old coins or pirates treasure! ehhe, but ya you get what I mean. The last couple days I have actually set out seeing if I could find coins that I missed with my previous detectors. I just bought a V3i from Treasure Mountain and this bad boy has more features on it then any other detector I have owned so I am hoping I can focus in on certain items if I want to. So far I am loving it! I am sure its the way I have it setup but I seem to need to swing it slower then I did with my F75, but I am sure I will figure that out soon too! Its a awesome detector so far tho!

Pretty much whatever I can find,I am a thrill of the hunt kind of person. But I find myself coin shooting allot, the only problem is that is not usually what I find, but if nothing else, I am pretty much looking for relics!

of course There are particular Finds I am After,
just like when someone asks you to locate a lost item,
Or you hear of that special "Treasure" that may
or may not be real. Of course then that becomes a special deal.
and when you do find it, it does give you a personal ego boost :laughing7:

But in all honesty I do believe most of us just like the time hunting & the surprises that come with it.

If we didn't , we would soon get frustrated with all the relics & Pieces of Relics & Clad,
and Trash, etc that we would be digging just to find that one special item
that seems to be not there.

the actual enjoyment we get digging, prevents insanity

I would be a liar if I said old coins or gold and silver jewelry isn't nice, but on the many days this doesn't happen, digging something unique or never dug before still makes me excited. I even smile at the sight of white on old lead still! Basically, anything that isn't aluminum is a blessing, lol.
