I found this in the field where I have been finding all my other pieces. Walked it after the skidder and dozer went over it and found it close to the river bank. This was in a pile of dirt rolled up by the dozer blade. It has the rough appearance like the small wedge/chopper I found there except one side is worn smooth. It could be just a rock but it kinda looks like it has been shaped for a large tool of some kind. don't know if it has been broken in half or if this is the original size and shape. The corners are smooth and rounded and the edges are straight. it is about 2 inches thick and 8 1/2 inches long on the longest side, 6 inches long on the other. It has some scratches on it but I think they were made by the dozer blade. It was unique looking and I had to bring it home. Any ideas?

Probably a Metate.

Here's one with a Mano that was used to grind the grains.

Thanks Reaper. I didn't have a clue. It looks like it has some use on the one side.

I agree with Reaper. Now you have to find the Mnao or Pestle that goes with it. Great find!

Looks like a pretty big iron build up on it. That's the way most of the stones around here look. Wander why polished artifacts do not gather minerals quite as bad as cruder ones? Sorry to stray from topic.
