🔎 UNIDENTIFIED What could this be?

I'm here at the OBX. There is a Nor'easter forming now. A few hours ago, I was digging and I found what appeared to be two wooden beams in front of the sand dunes.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

Last night at a bar I talked with local. He said it might have been part of a house that used to be there.

I told him that when I first came to the OBX in high school back in 1992, I remembered the beaches being wider (more distance from the dunes to the water), but now there is not much room until you get to the water. I wasn't sure if I was remembering things correctly, but he said I was.

I found these old pictures of Nags Head. This supports the possibility that the two wooden posts I found could be the foundation to a house/cottage from a long time ago as one of the locals suggested.
