Why do you say that its a soap dish instead of a powder box, candy dish, colbot box? I think it is from the Victorian era;

I was just thinking that after searching for one and not finding anything..........and you would have to buy perfect bar of soap every time lol

The reason I asked is because most glass soapdishes don't have lids because they are easily dropped. It could also be a jewelry dish, or a box to hold small nick nacks, whatever it turns out to be it sure is beautiful.

I agree I don't think it is a soap dish thought pill box but that doesn't fit either
