Looks like it was clamped up against something else ( a nickle maybe?) and clamped hard in a vise or put in a hydraulic press.

I think so. Found a lot of what I call "railroad money" over the years. You could tell where some coins were stacked say two high, and they would not always stay on the track to "Flatten" out. Sometimes after only one or two wheels rolled over they would fly off, not to be found until....well, by me.
