What did you do today?

The ground is still frozen, so son and I couldn't go MDing. We decided to take a hike to find the Rock Furnace. Posted below are the pictures we took on the hike.

Hubby and i went to Chili's and i pigged out some baby back ribs, god they were good, and then i got brave and ordered the chocolate molten cake afterwards.....now im miserable. I need to go hiking in the woods so i can work it all off.

Wished i had that scenery around here.

I was at a Home Expo tonight and ran into the President of the Roaring Run Watershed who is responsible for the maintenance of this trail. He told me that where the well is located used to be 4 to 5 houses about 200 years ago. I asked about metal detecting the area, and he gave me the go ahead. I am off now to research some maps of that area.

Went to the habitat (for humanity) store, bought a new "used" florescent light for above the kitchen sink, looked for an old interior lock-set`s and a few other odd `n ends. Installed the light, reinstalled the operating systems on two laptops.

Dropped a rim/tire off at the shop for mounting, reinstalled the tire, replaced an 02 sensor, cleaned a throttle body and lubed the convertible top pivots on a 95 Chrysler I picked up for free ( love the freebee`s)

Installed two new smoke-alarms in the basement then sat shootin `da breeze with the neighbor who complained about the aforementioned car, seems it took on a whole new look once I put the tire back on, he wants to know if i`ll give him a good deal on it.

Started pulling apart another computer, interrupted by the same neighbor wondering about the car (price just went up $100) , then hit the couch and watched some old western.

Other than that not much.

Went to post office. Stopped by a buddies house. Helped him and two others take a gun safe off a truck and put in place (1000 lbs). Then he wanted to take his new boiler off another truck and put in place (1800 lbs). Told him it was a bad idea to do by hand so I went to get a machine, drove 45 minutes back one way. Took care of boiler, ate pizza, drove 45 minutes back in machine. Transferred files on another computer and now I'm here. Funny thing is the post office was the only stop planned.

Looks like I would have enjoyed your hike more. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I know it! Im so tired of this cold weather! The only thing i hate about detecting and summer time, is its harder to dig through that green grass. I'd rather dig in dead grass. But im like you, i cant be digging through snow and ice, i love detecting, but not that much! So glad we dont have the snow and ice problem here. I wouldnt make it, i'd be miserable!
Spring gets here, you gonna have to watch for snakes then.

Looks like a beautiful hike you took but I would have wanted less snow and ice. lol Of course then would get distracted detecting and such and never make the whole hike!

As far as what I did today....worked....working until weds morning so not much else going on other than keeping up with stuff on the computer. Talked to my daughter in law...talked to my son...talked to Bobby....making a trade with my backup detector so another tnetter can have his own instead of borrowing one when he wants to detect. Waitin on my dinner to come out of the oven now. Three more hours and I can lock this place up and go crawl into that warm bed! then get back up and do it all over again. lol

Went to my 'Walking stick' factory, (son's barn), , worked on a few sticks, went to AR & detected around an old barn, found a few rusty relic's.
Drove on a few miles & visited friends.

Hit two streams today and did some sample panning. Boy is that water cold with the ice floating by. You don't want to over top your waders

I know this is tomorrow for the topic, but I spent 13 hours working in a steel mill, digging oil soaked slag from the tilt cylinder pits. Then I came home and died.....


What am I doing today......absolutely nothing.....R&R...

tore out carpet in bathroom. Replaced old mirror with new one that has a nice frame around it. Lay a new wood floor in bathroom. Bought and installed new throne. New shower stall to replace old bathtub before someone gets hurt should be here in 10 days....It's gonna look sweet!!! Then husband got home.

Wow..I'm impressed.

Today, I went cross-country skiing. Had to ski to the top of the hill where my sons have built an igloo. It's still standing even though the temperatures have been above 32.

Skiing was fast. I spent some time on my butt.

You have found a fantastic area to detect. I can't wait to see the pictures of your hunts. Do you have an old atlas of the county you live in? This will help you immensely in locating where the old houses were. If you don't have one, go to the library or historical society and get copies of that area. Those atlases will be your most valuable asset.

shopped at walmart
bitched about how people who take the cart down the isle are morons(leave it on the end cap)

found 56 cents in the melted snow at the gas station(got a pack)
went home
took the youngest to her friends house
garbage picked some stuff on the way home
talked to the neighbor when i got home
now im going to make a peanut butter and bacon on rye and have Doritos and a cherry coke

Personally I packed up and shipped a bunch of ebay sales and waited for FedX to deliver my Nautilus IIb detector. It showed up about 3:00 P.M.
