I had used an XLT, a Exp II, a CZ-5. I came to try the Tejon, due to 1. its reputation and 2. simplicity. I have had limited success with the other machines in the area of depth. If it was shallow (3-6 inches) I was finding it. If it was trash, I was definitely finding it. I keep swinging away, but fell victim to the.....the other machine gets deeper syndrome. I do like the simplicity of the Tejon, however........nothing of any depth has yet to be found. I have found small items to perhaps 6-8 inches. I have also been the trash collector for most sites. Recently I have had the recurring "I think I need a different detector" thought. My friend has a F-75 and swears of its dominance of searching deep. He will not dig a shallow target (has been burned once by that one) but he does find significant relics, gold, silver, and copper coins. So we are working this site that has produced old coin and relics, and has been hunted quite hard. I have a signal that is very very light. He checks with his and says.....silver dime at 8 inches.....with a good strong signal. Much better than mine. If I did not have his input I would have likely not dug. Sure enough a 1763 reale. What is with the stories of the Tejon depth
I saw on youtube someone air testing a coin that was way over 12 inches, more like 15. I don't get that. From that point I was OK I think to find anything I will need to get the 75. Tried his one day the following week. It was typical TID machine. A little difficult to get set up, (was working alone). After some time I decided to keep trying with my Tejon. I have a different tactic, and supertune whenever possible. I hunt with almost no discrimination, and the second at foil. I Will use the primary desc to determining if the light beep will do so at silver. I generally dig anything that beeps solid though light at a foil desc. In trashy areas this can be trying. What are your experiences with techniques. I wish I had the confidence to say I searched to a foot or so like the others claim. I don't see that happening. I do have a 10,12 widescan, but was thinking of getting the smaller coil for the trashy areas.
