🔎 UNIDENTIFIED What do you suppose this brass plaque was for?

Found where some military items have been found in the past. Looks to say FC1(SW) Rech.

In the US Navy, FC1(SW) stands for Fire Controlman First Class (Surface Warfare). The designation applies to E-6 petty officers responsible for operating and maintaining advanced weapons systems, radars, and fire control computers on surface ships. What the ‘Rech’ stands for, I don’t know… nor what such a plate would be used for if that’s what it is.

The font style suggests it to be modern.

FC1 is Fire Control Technician First Class. So he was a First Class Petty Officer (E-6). Fire Control Technician has nothing to do with fires, it was and electronics designation for the type of electronics he worked on (repaired or serviced). Examples would be radars, weapons systems, etc.

The SW is a special designation as a Surface Warfare expert. He had to do lots of extra training and testing to get this designation and it was a way to stand a little higher amongst his peers. (I was and AW-Air Warfare expert)

RECH was his last name. So this was a tag for a locker or a belonging of his.

Very cool find, by the looks of it I wouldn't say its too old. 1980s or 90s at the earliest, maybe more modern than that.
