I'm in Nebraska and my ATP usually auto ground balances around 80-84 with stock or Nel storm coil. Once and a while it will run around 78 depending on the area. I also tend to run manual GB lower if the area is not to trashy and I don't get too much noise.

Im basically south, central Indiana and my atp usually gb auto in at around 84to89
I've been clued in on manually lowering your ground balance down about ten numbers
For increased sensitivity to small jewelry and a little deeper for silver.
I know this works as the first day i tried this out....auto gb...then lower that number by ten numbers....
I did dig some pretty deep small jewelry targets....and a few small junk items too,,pretty deep
So that's usually what I do if there is a chance for deep silver coins etc...
I just have thee standard 8.5x11dd coil.

Thx for the input , I will try lowering the gb . I see you found a reale , you find that in Indiana

In Tennessee almost always 82

In Massachusetts 90 - 93 (moist soil...less if dry) but, I bump it down 5 notches after auto ground balance.

I live in north eastern Arizona,I have seen the area I detect range anywhere from the low single digit numbers all the way up to the low 40s I use a X TERRA 705 and use the tracking on it but I still check my GB occasionally after the initial set up I have seen my ground change rapidly in ground balance numbers with in a 10 foot area

Normally 80-81 in South Tennessee

Weird...I was told by the company for my Titan 9000 that ground balancing doesn't work in AZ for my machine...

That's not true. Every soil will read between 00-99. They probably just don't have any data for that area.

SW WA - 89 - 91 gb

ATP in my S/E Texas Gulf Coast area normaly will gb around 61-66.

Texas ED

In Western part of Oregon, it always seems to fall in at 92-93, never heard of lowering the number, I'll try it, but not sure why?

although I do not use my ATP much the few times I have taken it out to compare things to my X Terra 705 the ATP is usually anywhere from the low 40s to as high as the mid to low 90s the ground I hunt varies quite a bit.

Here at 9000 ft in Colorado it runs 75-85 and if you use iron audio it will tell you even a coin is iron most of the time. Wish someone could explain that? Funny we have a low place about 100 yds. across that auto balance will go bananas on. Makes funny noises and balances 0-12, what could cause that? Never anywhere else.

Central WI, 80-85. I usually go down a few numbers after that, can't tell if it helps or not.

In my range of detecting.....it's EVERYWHERE. My ground at home is 85, Virginia is unreadable, PA similar to Maryland. The PA line is 1 mile away. Virginia is 1 hour. I don't go THAT far.
