What equipment do you use in the field for cache hunting?

I'm interested in what kind/type/brand of equipment you guys use for a cache hunt?
What works best and what have you labled junk and not worth the money?
Any equipment that you used to find/extract/transportation to site etc..
Help us noobs with thy divine knowledge

Pretty much the same, add GPS with IBM T23 with maps & notes loaded. Also, sometimes a half (cut lengthwise) blue plastic 55 gal drum with a rope harness. They slide along the ground like glass & you'd amazed how much you can drag easily with one!

Most other times depends on locale and the site.

Depends on the terrain and target. You can see to the left my basic detectors. Study old and new Topo Maps and Photos of the area you plan to hunt. Rivers change direction's and houses were in locations you would not imagine today.

A spring steel probe about 4-5 feet long. If a hole has ever been dug, the dirt will be much softer that the surrounding area, and the probe is much easier to stick into the ground. You can feel buried objects when you hit them with the probe. Bottle diggers use them all the time. Niffler
