For a brand new Tejon, probably about $200.Is that a 'high tone' Vaquero?

I had a Tejon and it turned me off! Bill

Depends on how you search and the amount of fun you expect. I like them both very much and couldn't decide on one or the other. I lean toward the V, but don't know why......... :icon_scratch:

Thanks sandman,,, I mainly hunt yards and for coins,,jewlery,,,not much on the relics,, just dont think I am getting the depth with the vaq.

thanks

I wouldn't trade a old beat up,battle scarred Vaquero for a new shinny Tejon unless I got a lot of boot.

What kind of depth are you looking for? My best finds were at 6-7 inches with my V. Tejon was just too chatty for me, would like to get another cibola as a backup to tell you the truth.

I don't know that the Tejon is going to be a whole lot deeper than the Vaq.; both use H.O.T. and take the same coils, don't they? The main benefit of the Tejon is the dual discrimination, which is extremely handy for coin shooting. Personally I would probably rather have a Tejon than a Vaq. In fact, after having tried many different detectors, Tejon is still my favorite of all time. Although I don't have much time in on a Vaquero, so I can't say for sure.

My deepest coin find with the Tejon was so deep that y'all probably won't believe it anyway, so I won't bother sayin'. I have dug some holes down to my elbow and found things in the bottom. Suffice it to say you should be able to pull coins from 9 inches without a problem on the Tejon, and I think the Vaquero should do it too. Some people just don't like analog machines.

Some people also say the soils out West prevent a Tejon from working well. I do not know about that. I used a Tejon in a magnetite mining area of the east where the soil was LOADED with black iron ore, still got coin depths to 8-9". Ground balance was crucial. I dug pieces of magnetite periodically. No big deal, to me. I think a Vaquero can do about as well.

Thanks for all the input everyone,, I was just kickin the idea around a little ,,my dealer is going to get back to me in a couple of days,,,

I like the idea of dual disc. but dont know :dontknow:,,, I would like to keep the v. for a backup but I have a bandito 2 u-max and eldorado-umax, plus ,,,

I have an old sidewinder also,,,, so I aint hurtin for machines!!,,,,I will get back with everyone if I make the trade,,,

thanks for all the advice,,,
