Thought it was a button of some sort. After cleaning, I found it had a weird buckle looking back with teeth on one side. It is about the size of a dime. Any ideas as to what it could be?

It is not magnetic. It rang a 17-18 on the nox. A little higher than normal button range for me. 17-18 is usually trash or pieces of copper in this field.

Cool little find. I think the prongs along it and on the back are meant to bite into leather. So I would guess horse harness decoration. Is there any material under the prongs on the back?
