My grandma picked this up at he the Salvation Army. I don’t know what it is and can’t find much about the name. Any ideas. Thanks!

It's an ignition coil for an early 20th C engine. Durkee Crescent made automotive and boating parts and accessories at that time.

Sometimes called a "buzz coil". Used in Model T Fords and with 'hit & miss' engines.

Thanks! Makes sense, I was leaning that way but my Google searches were coming up empty. It's about a third larger than a ford coil, so that was throwing me off as well.

It’s for a hit and miss spark plug engine. Used on upright Maytag engines, Fairbanks Morse or any of a hundred different stationary engines from the early 1900’s.

That type buzz coil was used mainly on early hit & miss engines. In the 1920's reliable magnetos replaced the buzz coil.
