found this on a turn of the century historic property, found alot of brass pieces within a small area, this being one of them. any ideas ....

Good call Mike -I was thinking the same and have searched for a while. There was an A. Thompson padlock maker, 19th Century. I haven't found any examples of a similar hasp.

hmmmm thanks guys...both ideas look good, the home was built in 1910, and homes in the area date to late 1800's seems to been a lot of brass fittings,etc in the vicinity of where i found this, i think it was just a dump spot on the property maybe or might of been small building there?? i will try to look at the photo posted but it wouldn't let me do it before....thanks again....gregg

I have to go along with the toilet flange. It is flat on one side so it will lay level I imagine. I just replaced a metal one in my bathroom with a pvc model. Monty

will be bringing it into work tomorrow to compare it to toilet flanges( i work for a hardware store), but it would make the pipe to be around a2 inches or so that it would be going over, typically toilet flanges are 4" piping i believe most . i will have to also look at old map as it had some writing on it for piping in street....thanks guys....

Probably right - I don't know what diameter a toilet pipe would have been back then. Another thought would be a water pipe flange from a high tank toilet.

so many ideas...hmmmm....vase looks too big its only about 1/4 inch wide, and only about 1/8 thick or so...but a good idea....

My initial thought upon seeing it was a piece of a sprinkler head. Did a google search and Thompson Sprinklers did pop up. Didn't find a match yet but I'm still looking.

i emailed irrigation museum, to see if they had any ideas, will post their reply, so far that seems the best guess yet....

thompson did make irrigation in or around that time period.

My first thought was that it was part of the slide on a Thompsons table saw. Not the fence the piece that you use to slide the wood against the fence with.
