Might be marking a grave?

Wow! That is really cool. I'm curious to see the responses. Looks like an ornamental cross to me. Not so much like an arrow. Very interesting though.

I noticed this was your very first post David - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Awesome find !
Too bad some dummy scratched their name in it.
Could it be one of those TREASURE Markers????
More than likely a trail marker though.
Great find

Really interesting. If you can legally do so, I'd run a metal detector in the area and see what might come up. Good luck.

Hi; The Cross is definitely NOT Celtic. I am Celtic myself. The Cross is Jesuit ok. The Cross is Classic Jesuit from the 1700's. The Circle pattern you see in the center of the Cross represents Divinity thus it is marking a Church Treasure ok. The one you want to look at it is Sandy1. PM him. He will tell you what you've got in relation to the area around the Cross ok. You will need to send him not only the Cross picture but a series of pictures of the area as you look around it at 15 Degree angles. You are looking for anything that STANDS ALONE by itself. These are called Alignment Markers. Sandy will take you the rest of the way. Also if there are ANY other stones that have symbols carved on them you will need to send him those pictures as well ok. Lastly, Go to the Thread here called "A GUIDE TO VAULT TREASURE HUNTING (Condensed) made by Sandy himself ok.
REMEMBER: We here can only help you if you Post more pictures of "Anything" from several angles and provide Us with more info than is here. Good Luck. PEACE:RONB

Welcome to TNet. Happy Holidays. :leprechaun-hat:

My first thought is the top 'arrow' pointing in the 'right' direction, follow that alignment & see what else is about.

Being that the top of the cross has an outer border where it was beveled down into the cross, You should be able to sight down it and get a fix on something. Could even be marking a trail between 2 mountains, a dark spot or a cave on a hillside, who knows. But look on the side of the rock for another mark to spot it from and also look backwards or down the cross first as there might be a second spot that it should be sighted across :) Where there is one marker, there will be more. Also look for animal like rock formations and start thinking Indiana Jones style, watch out for traps hehe :evil6:

Is that carved into the rock or is the rock carved away to leave the cross

Hi; The Cross is carved into the rock. Also whoever put that Graffitti at the top right of the Cross did so AFTER the Cross was made ok. It hs no relation to the Cross itself. It is more modern. PEACE:RONB
