My buddy found this in the Shenandoah River in Port Republic, VA. He has been to the local University for help to identify this and they had no idea. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. We think it is brass/copper according to the people at the University.

Learned a few things today...

Ventnor Boat Works (New Jersey) built custom speedboats prior to WWII including a world record holder in the late 1930's. During the war they built specialized boats for the Navy - small and fast - like rescue boats and submarine hunters. After the war they continued building racing boats but also branched out into pleasure craft.

It's a cool relic. Nice team work on the ID, as usual.
