IMG_2455.JPG About 1/4" of an inch thick. Dug out of a house burned during the CW. Thanks.

Perhaps. It had/has four nubs or studs coming off of it a 90 degree angles.

That was the first thing that came to my mind and I posted the reply before I forgot it! Most all rein guides have a threaded stud on them now that I think of it. Another thought that just hit me is a plumbing pipe hanger but that's probably not right either. At least we are eliminating possible answers.:icon_scratch::laughing7:

Thanks for the answers. The original house that burned was colonial. The Yankees burned it. (We think.) It came right out of the burned foundation, but theoretically could be something much newer too.

It’s iron? Pretty good condition for iron in the ground since the CW.

Possibly part of an old wrought iron fence?? If it was lead I'd think it was from a stained glass window frame perhaps. That's a neat find-

Yes, that linked it to the missing outer circle. Not sure what it is, but might help others?

I'll go with broken colonial trivet. We get a lot of colonial tombac buttons off the site also, as the house was there pre 1800. Thanks!

DCMatt, burned iron comes out this way a lot of times. It is attracted to a magnet, AARC, very possible, either way a household thingie.

On first glance I was hoping it was a "shot gauge"... but they usually only have 2 points.

I was hoping CW, but I think much earlier. Maybe not as old as colonial however.
