What is this?

I found this about 8" down in a local park, looks like some kind of key
but not really sure, has anyone else seen anything like this?

Neat find. It does kind of look like part of an old skeleton key but it is pretty hefty looking for a pocket. Also the ornamentation on it is interesting...were old keys ornate like that? Maybe it is some kind of pull or latch.

Might be a gas lamp key. They were used to turn the valve on and off.

Could also be a clock key, as in Grandfather clock.

I'm with cuss mark. This is a cable key for a gas lamp sconce.

I think it is a part for holding a chandelier together. It appears to have been threaded at one point, and has a tapered seat facing the threads.
