Neat find. It does kind of look like part of an old skeleton key but it is pretty hefty looking for a pocket. Also the ornamentation on it is interesting...were old keys ornate like that? Maybe it is some kind of pull or latch.

Might be a gas lamp key. They were used to turn the valve on and off.

I think it is a part for holding a chandelier together. It appears to have been threaded at one point, and has a tapered seat facing the threads.

im thinking something like a fastener too. that tapered edge kinda sticks out.
