Hi - that is lovely! Where did your great grandfather live? Are those his initials on the top? I assumed they were for the organization that issued the badge but I wanted to check to make sure.

If you give us some info on your great-grandfather - like the city where he lived in 1894 and his age at that time - we may be able to figure out the initials. Having his name would be even better but I understand not wanting to publish that information.
