Back of the more decorative half has lugs and plugged in to the base object. Must have held a very heavy lid or door. Also looks like the hinge pin would stick out quite a bit if it were a right angle attachment and there is no room for an overlap of parts. Vertical cold/freezer storage, door setting inside the cabinet opening?

Nice find, almost makes you want to construct a document box from oak to put the hinges on.

Thanks Matt and everyone else.
I figured they were ice box hinges but still haven't found a pair with the back protrusions thst inset when screwed in all the way. All flat backs. That's what had me wondering. I'll put this one to rest. Thanks again.
